New York Newark's Airport Movements Increase by Over 50%

New York Newark's Airport Movement Statistics have increased by over 50% for June 4-11, compared to the same period last year. 

The airport has witnessed continued growth over the past few months and is on track for more success as we progress further into the Summer 2022 season. 

So without further ado, let's get into the numbers:

The Numbers

For June 4-11, the airport recorded 1,181 movements, which is an increase of +54.38% compared to the same period in 2021 when just 765 movements were recorded.

The 2022 number is shy of around 37 movements to match 2019's numbers, hinting at more or less a full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The forecast for this week will see the airport handle 1,146 movements, which will still be a +45.62% increase compared to the same period last year. 

The month of May has seen the airport average around 1,100-1,200 movements per week and is matching 2019 numbers as well. 

Comparison to Competitors...

If you compare this to some of Newark's competitors on the East Coast of the United States, there is close contention when it comes to airport movements.

Below, you can find a comparison of some airports that are nearby or are on the East Coast:

• New York's JFK: 1,253 movements - June 11-18.
• Atlanta: 2,083 movements - June 11-18.
• Orlando: 923 movements - June 11-18.
• LaGuardia: 1,039 movements - June 11-18.

Newark is up there with the likes of JFK, Orlando, and LaGuardia, but of course, given the size of Atlanta, it won't be as easy to match their numbers. 

Either way, Newark is most definitely on the up and we will probably see more movements from that airport as the Summer 2022 season progresses.
